Updo of the Day

Hi everyone! It's Monday, and my second to last class day of the semester. Just one more class tomorrow and I am finished! Except for final exams, of course. But I'm trying not to think about those.

I tried something new with my hair today and decided to share it with you all :)

Right side
Left side

Essentially what I did was separate the front bang sections of my hair from the rest, make a low bun with the back portion, then braid the front sections and pin around the bun! Super easy, and has stayed secure and sleek throughout the day despite my crazy mane of hair.

I hope you all have wonderful weeks :)

Updo of the Day

Happy Saturday!

Today I was experimenting a little bit with my hair and decided to share the end result with you!

Not anything spectacular by any means, but it was easy and quick. Simply twirling the front bits of hair back and securing with a clip, then making a side braid. The bow accessory I used was from Forever 21, for around $4.00, I believe. I've had it for years and barely ever use it, and just unearthed it today and decided to show it off again!

I also had fun with my makeup today, on a side note. Going for light makeup today -
Eyeshadow: RIMMEL London Quad Eyeshadow #018
Lipstick: REVLON ColorStay in Ultimate Suede

And now I'm off to enjoy my Saturday! I hope you are all having lovely weekends xx

Updo of the Day

Hello everyone!

So the hairstyle I'm going to share with you today is super easy and would most probably work on a variety of hair types, though I myself have wildly curly hair. It's really just a good way to get your hair out of your face, though in a slightly different way than the usual pinning the front bits back. So here you go!

Start with your hair all wild and free (I used second-day hair... please excuse the frizz and general unruly look it has) . This curly updo is a really great way to get that top-layer frizz tamed while still enjoying your hair free from a ponytail or bun.

Starting at your part, twist front sections of your hair back on either side and gather at the middle of the back of your head.

Take the two chunks of hair you just gathered and secure to your head with bobby pins. Then, twist the hair into a bun, pinning as you go.

And there you go! Very simple and easy half-up bun. Feel free to let me know below if you tried it and how it worked for you!

Updo of the Day

Hello! I tried something a little different with my hair today - experimenting usually takes place during weekends, so this is quite something - and was pleased to see that it worked out!

Updos can be quite tricky at times with curly hair, and sometimes shockingly and wonderfully easy. This was the latter. An absolute breeze!

You can click on the pictures to make them larger
Like I said, super easy. I wanted to move away from the regular bun and into something a bit more textured and wild, and this was born. I'm sure experimentation could be done - a few more pieces hanging free, maybe, or perhaps some curls framing the face. I'm definitely going to try different variations!

Here are the basics. You'll need a handful (ten or so) bobby pins, a hair tie, water, and some sort of taming product such as gel or smoothing serum.

  1. Best done with slightly damp hair. Wet your hair thoroughly, then work gel or cream through your hair. Make sure to scrunch, too, so you still have your nice curl pattern going!
  2. Pull your hair into a pony tail. Any height would work, I'm sure, depending on what kind of look you're going for. Today, I had a medium height pony tail.
  3. This part is fun because it's so awesomely easy! Take your pony tail in your palm and smoosh it against the back of your head. This achieves the disarray-messy-bun look. With your pins, secure your hair to the back of your head, fixing tendrils here and there if they don't look right to you.
  4. Smooth flyaways in the front with gel, or loosen a couple of curls around your face to finish the look. And there you go! A quick, easy way to secure those curls!

I hope you curly girls out there find this helpful! If you try it, feel free to comment and tell me how it works for you :)

Hair-spirations

There are so many curly girls out there in tv shows and media, which I LOVE, since I myself am naturally curly-haired. So many hair trends right now are straight or wavy, and however much I pine after them (I find those styles so pretty!) I know it will probably be a while until I finally get the energy to try them out. So for now, I'm sticking with the curls.

One character I absolutely LOVE is Zoe from Firefly, mostly because she is so incredibly bad-ass. But also because of her fantastic head of hair.

She has got to be one of my favourite TV characters... just so amazing!

Plus, her and Wash are the cutest couple! As soon as I begun watching the show, I was a fan. The characters are all so interesting, and the story line makes you want to keep watching. It honestly is heartbreaking that there is only one season.

Anyway, back to hair.

Another one of my hair inspirations on TV is Annie from Being Human. Her hair is just so cute and bouncy and it makes me want to chop all of mine off!

Seeing all these curly haired heroines makes me extra happy with my own hair... sometimes my mane can be incredibly frustrating, but it does pay off eventually, with patience and good humour! To any curly girls out there: keep rocking those curls!

Until the next!

Live Clean follow-up

Helloooo! So you may or may not remember this, but a while ago I did a review on the Live Clean Argan Oil Smooth and Shine Cream! Here's the link: http://raznilla.blogspot.ca/2013/02/live-clean-review.html

I used that product again today and am pretty happy with my findings! I used it instead of my usual leave-in conditioner, and really liked the way it left my hair.

Sorry about the brightness of the photos - I used my webcam for these and the quality SUCKS.

I had to include the tea, sorry. Tea and I go everywhere together!

A really nice product, I'm really liking it! The only thing is, it left my hair a littttlleee bit frizzier than it is with my usual leave-in conditioner, but that could have also been because of the abysmal weather we've been having!

So there, real proof that this product works. Give it a go!

Live Clean Review

I've tried out this product - Live Clean's Argan Oil Smooth & Shine Cream - and here are some of my thoughts!

I got this product quite by accident, actually! I have Live Clean leave-in conditioner and love it, and am running a bit low. I asked my mum to pick me up some and she brought this back for me, so instead of make a fuss I decided to give it a go!

First of all, it smells amazing. Coconut, almost. I actually am not 100% sure what the smell is but it is a lovely one.

The texture, as well, is really nice. It's super smooth and light, and doesn't leave any residue or anything behind. I found it left my curls softer and less frizzy. I've only used it to touch up single curls or small chunks of curls, and it's worked really well that way. I did find, though, that you need a pretty decent amount of it for it to do anything noticeable to your hair. Maybe that's just me and my stubborn hair, though! I may experiment a bit more with it, but I'm liking what it does!

I also love the environmentally friendly part of it, and along with that, how it has, like, zero bad ingredients in it. The packaging is even recyclable!

Overall, an awesome product! I'd definitely recommend this for curly haired people to try out, and I'd even guess it would work in other hair types as well! Give it a try!
